U18 3-Counties Friendly, Wilson's School, 12th September 2009

This match, traditionally hosted by Berkshire, is a friendly opener to the season and normally comprises the four counties Berks, Bucks, Surrey and us. Bucks were missing this year, so just three counties met for the jamboree format match, kindly hosted by Surrey. Thanks go to event organiser Neill Cooper.

Round 1: Scheduled for 2.00pm started a little later at 2.15pm. As results drifted in we had amassed 7pts from 12 boards and found ourselves leading the field: Sussex 7pts, Surrey 6.5pts and Berkshire 4.5pts.

Round 2: Also delayed by a very close end of Round 1 board 2 game between Sussex and Surrey (we lost!). This time results weren’t going our way with some quick losses early on, and we ended Round 2 with 6 pts. Surrey were much stronger this time.

Final Result: 1st Surrey 14.5pts, 2nd Sussex 13pts and Berkshire 8.5pts

Well done to David Grant (board 1), and Chris Yates (board 3) each earning 2 wins; and Amy Hoare, unbeaten on board 7.
