Bruce Dienes Awards, Fonthill Lodge, 12th June 2010

Alongside the U7 Championship was the last training day of the season. The afternoon traditionally takes the form of a simultaneous display with the children challenging their trainers, and this year was no exception. There were several interesting and challenging games, but only Seb Pollard managed to win - well done Seb.

This year saw the inaugural presentation of the Bruce Dienes Cup and associated awards. Bruce was a chess player, parent, and Chairman of Sussex Junior Chess until his untimely death in 2006. He was closely linked to East Grinstead, hence the choice of this event to present the awards.

The ethos of the Bruce Dienes awards is to reward those who have displayed long term committment, perseverence, and team spirit as well as talent in their chess. The 2010 winners are:-
