Inter-Schools Competitions - Sadd Cup

Each year Sussex Junior Chess organise an inter-school chess tournament for 4 age groups. The under-16 age group compete for the Sadd Cup.

The tournament would not be possible without the support and goodwill of teachers, parents and other volunteers in transporting, arranging dates and encouraging the children – so a huge thanks must go to all involved.

On 4th March 2009 Darvell came all the way from Robertsbridge to Christ’s Hospital near Horsham to play the final of the Sussex U16 Chess Cup. It was a very enjoyable occasion and many of the games could have gone either way, so the final result was much closer than the 5 – 1 to Christ’s Hospital would indicate.

The game between the two Captains, Oskar and Daniel, was a very evenly matched battle, Oskar winning in the end when Daniel’s flag fell. Photos were taken of the teams with the cup and a very friendly spirit was displayed by all.
