Inter-Schools Competitions - Primary Cup
Each
year Sussex Junior Chess organise an inter-school chess tournament
for 4 age groups. The largest group involves students under the age
of 11 (Year 6) who compete in teams of 4 players for the Primary Cup.
This tournament has always proved very successful and
this
year
is
no exception
with
47 teams from 38 schools entering the event.
The
tournament would not be possible without the support and goodwill of
teachers, parents and other volunteers in transporting, arranging
dates and encouraging the children – so a huge thanks must go
to all involved, and we hope to see you again next year.
Special
thanks to tournament organiser Paula Payne for many hours spent slaving
over spreadsheets, and to Great Walstead school for providing the Finals
Day venue this year.

Day - 9th June 2009, Great Walstead School
In
each division, the winners of each group play-off on 'finals day'.
The
final of the 2008 / 2009 tournament took place on Tuesday 9th June
at Great Walstead
School. Twelve teams from across East and West Sussex, having gained
a place in the final by playing 2 primary rounds, meet for a further
2
games
to establish the final placings:
