NCJS Championships: 13th - 15th April 2007, High Wycombe

Sussex put up a strong entry for the National Chess Junior Squad Championships in High Wycombe.

In the U16 event, 3 players entered. Rhys Cumming finished on 4 points out of 6 and George Salimbeni on 3.5. Oskar Shortz also played.

In the U12 event, Joe Quinn came equal 2nd with 5 out of 7 ponts, whilst both Ramm and Shyam Mohan came joint first with other players to take the top U11 prize. Other Sussex competitors included Barnaby Paul, Chris Yates, Freddie Keen, Felix Haxby, Ramsay Piper and Jonathan Burch.Shyam Mohan also took the Ian Cowen Memorial Cup which is awarded to the U11 player with the highest 4 points across the England Trial Qualifier events.

In the U10s, Robert Fitzgerald came equal 2nd on 5.5 out of 7 but took the prize for the top U9. Cosima Keen, Charlie Keen and Otto Pyper also played.

In the U8s, Rohan Shiatis took the best U7 prize and came 2nd overall.
