Chichester Open: 16th October 2004

Under 18’s

Joe Fraser eased to his 5th Sussex title in a row and retained the Goodwood Cup with 6/6 in the Major. Katherine Rattle was clear in 2nd place with 4.5. There was a tie for third place between George Perez-Trunin, Nick Mansfield and Ben Kennedy, with George winning the trophy on progressives.

Under 12’s

This was a qualifying tournament for the London Tournament, with only Anthony Gregory (5.5) scoring sufficient points for entry to the Major competition. There was a 4 way tie for 2nd place between Nick Fraser, Christopher Linnett, Alex Galliano and Elliott Auckland. Nick won 2nd place, and Christopher 3rd on progressives. George Salimbeni and Sam Amis also qualified for the Minor Tournament.

Under 10’s

Jude Lenier won impressively with 6/6, clear of Dominic Pozzo on 4.5, they both qualify for the London Under 10 Major. Dominic is Sussex stalwart Sebastian’s younger brother, so it is nice to see him following in his brother’s footsteps. Polly Lambert and Siddarth Basetti (4 points) tied for 3rd place with Polly winning the trophy on progressives. Ben Rudling, Matthew Payne, Chris Khoo, Christopher Yates, and Toby How (3.5 points) all qualified for the Minor tournament.

Under 8’s

The tournament had to be merged with the under 10’s as there were only 3 competitors. Remarkably 6 year-old Robert Fitzgerald gained 5 points, beating 3 under-10’s in the process and only losing to Jude. Charlie Keen finished 2nd on 3 points and Callum Osborne 3rd on 2 points.
