East Grinstead Schools Jamboree (9 May 2004)The Third East Grinstead Primary Schools Chess Jamboree, designed to encourage the playing of chess by children in the East Grinstead area took place on Sunday 9 May. 52 children from 10 East Grinstead Primary/Prep schools took part in the event, hosted at The Meads School, East Grinstead. The winning schools out of the 10 participating ones were: Nine Sussex players were invited to join the SE England vs. Wales match which was played in Monmouth in S. Wales. Chris Linnett, Farris Ziyada, Rhys Cumming and Ben Blundell were all part of the 12 strong U11 SE England team which played the Wales U12 team, and all four players were undefeated. The SE England U14 team included 5 of the 12 players, with Joe Richardson, Abi Fryer, Tristan Blundell, George Salimbeni and Charles Board all taking part and only suffered one defeat in their 10 games. |
