Many thanks to Scott Fraser for this report.

Under-18 Major
Adam Prescott finally managed to beat 3rd placed Nimai McCarthy , Nimai’s first defeat in many months, to take the tournament with an impressive 5½ points. Only 2nd placed Joe Fraser took half a point off him with a very rapid draw. Joe took second place over Nimai by remaining unbeaten.

Under-18 Minor
Deborah Margolis won a small Minor competition in style, comfortably ahead of her rivals on 5½ points. Simon Lynwood took second place with 4½, just pipping Sarah Linnett on 4.

Under 11 Major
In a very strong Major competition, Tristan Blundell confirmed his recent improved form by taking first prize on progressive scores from Oxford’s Patrick Butler, Christopher Linnett and Farris Ziyada. Farris was awarded the top under-10 prize, after missing out on a podium place. We welcomed Bethany Hardwick who travelled all the way up from Truro in Cornwall.

Jed Kafetz scored 5 out of 5 to win the competition before going into the last round where he lost to 3rd-placed Peter Jenion. Simon Tucker finished between them . Top under-9 prize was shared by Richard Thorburn and Patrick Reeves-Dienes on 4 points, Andrew Turner won the under-8 with 4 points, and Edward Reeves-Dienes.
