South of England Championships - 2/3 February 2002The South of England Championships have always been a successful tournament for Sussex players, and this year was no exception. The highlight was Farris Ziyada's win in the under 9's. No less important a feat was that of Eleanor Hayden who scored the 3 points she needed for the England trial qualification after having given everyone a scare by losing the first two rounds. Well done, and good luck in the trials. Andrew Tucker also showed his good form with a solid 3½ in the same section. The invitation only closed sections are always very tough at this event being made up of national squad players and those aspiring to the squad. The Sussex players all performed well, with Stephanie Barraclough coming from behind on the second day to sneak 3rd equal place in the under 12 event. The two Joe's, Fraser and Richardson both scored 3, which should hopefully see them both invited into the full national squad. All the Sussex Junior Results
