Sussex U14 and U18 Championships - 8-9 July 2000

Sussex U14 U18 Chess Championships 2000

The pre-tournament favourites were edged out in this hard fought competition as Tom Davey from Hurstpierpoint put in a superb performance to win the joint Sussex under 14/18 tournament with a perfect 6/6. Theo Penty picked up the under 14 title and second place with 5/6, and third place went another under 14 Tom Poulson, pipping both Adam Prescott (under 11), Michael Hamilton and Charlie Linford on the sum of progressive scores.

Many thanks to Ardingly College for providing a superb venue. Paul Watson, Sussex County Chess Association secretary, presented the prizes.
