About Sussex Junior Chess

Sussex Junior Chess is a not for profit organisation which exists to promote and popularise chess amongst school age children in the county.
We offer training days at venues around the county, and organise tournaments for individuals and schools.
We also select and run county teams (Under 9, Under 11, Under 11 Girls, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18) who compete in national and international events.

Joining In

SJC Membership is optional, but at only £9 per family entitles you to discounted event entry and priority mailing of events. Download an application form.

We are entirely staffed by volunteers and we are always very grateful for support from parents. Help can be as little as taking a turn helping with the catering, to taking responsibility for coordinating events, or offering assistance in your area of expertise.

By remaining an entirely voluntary organisation, we are able to keep down the costs of events and hence encourage as many children as possible to attend.
